Feedback post for Legends of the Force

So, my Nintendo Power Retrospectives video for this month is done and uploaded, and will go up next week, and I’m working on my script for my next Legends of the Force video. I’ve tried to provide more background in these videos then there are on the original blog posts, and in the case of trilogies that fit in one chronological block, as with the Han Solo Adventures and Lando Calrissian Adventures, I’ll be combining all 3 books into one video for the sake of brevity.If you have any advice on the Legend of the Force videos, I’d appreciate it. Are you interested in more background on the works (the inside baseball stuff?). For the comics, would you like me to get more granular (going arc by arc instead of covering the inter-film blocks)? Are you interested in a special episode about the material for the West End Games RPG that came out in between the end of Marvel’s run and the start of the EU-As-We-Knew-It? Want me to cover the Holiday Special in December? This is the post to provide that feedback or any other advice.

Film Review: The Mission (1999)

Johnny To, as a director, has two extremes. On one end is gritty crime thrillers like the Election duology – which may have an action scene or two, but which otherwise are generally grounded in the real world. On the other end is Exiled, a film which has a fight scene early in the film where several characters in a firefight cause a table to flip and spin end over end with their bullet hits, but ultimately both come out of the fight uninjured. Legends of the Force: Episode I – Splinter of the Mind’s Eye

I’m taking my book reviews and adapting them into a new ongoing project with Legends of the Force, a look at the Star Wars “Legends” continuity in order of publication. This time I’m taking a look at Splinter of the Mind’s Eye – from how it came about, to how the story stacks up in its own right.

This is going to be a monthly series, like the Nintendo Power Retrospectives. This is something I can work on at work (in terms of reading material for the series) so it shouldn’t interfere with NPR, and should hopefully be just as entertaining and informative.Opening Credits: Star Wars Theme from Super Star Wars on the SNES.

Movie Review: Deathstalker II

Deathstalker II is a fun dumb movie. It’s the kind of film where there is a title-drop in the film that incorporates the number (sort of – the line being: “I’ll have my revenge, and Deathstalker too!”). It’s got a soundtrack by Casio, exterior sets from a Renaissance faire, pants made out of pleather because they ran out of their leather budget, and female characters who wear as little as possible in the hopes that the audience won’t pay attention to any of the rest of the film’s shortcomings.
