Anime Review: Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk

The Spring 2026 season had one of those weird, likely unintentional synergies. Much as when, a few years ago, we had the first season of MF Ghost and Overtake airing at the same time, that season had the start of Drops of God alongside a yuri romance anime that was also about booze called Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk. For the sake of manageability, I’m just going to refer to the anime by the character’s first name, and the character by her first name.

Anime Review: Rock Is A Lady’s Modesty

It’s been a minute since the last music anime I’ve watched. There have been idol anime that have aired, but while I’ve enjoyed some idol music, I’ve never really been grabbed by series like the Idolmaster franchise. However, after watching Bocchi The Rock, I found myself looking for more rock band anime, so when Rock Is A Lady’s Modesty came up in the schedule, I decided to give it a watch. I found myself getting more than I bargained for, in a good way.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Anime Review

After this past year’s horrific fire at Kyoto Animation, I found myself looking at all the animated series that Kyoto Animation had done in the past, and found that I had seen so very few of them, and that they were also all on my to-watch list well before the fire. The body of work of the studio was at a level that I’d compare to GAINAX at their prime. So, having read the first volume of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid a couple jobs ago, while I was working in Downtown Portland, I decided to bump that show up on the list. Also, as a part of the weekly anime viewing nights I’d started with my parents after I got my Dad into anime, I decided to add that show to the rotation, sight unseen. The results were favorable, with an asterisk.
