This issue occurs before Abattoir’s death.

We have a brief opening with AzBat wrecking some people during a subway firefight, with an increasingly fascist internal monologue. It comes across like The System is overwhelming Jean-Paul’s psyche.

We then shift to our villains a sniper team, Gunhawk and Gunbunny (a husband and wife team), who pops their target, who is at a rooftop party, from another skyscraper rooftop blocks away.

Gunhawk lines up his shot on his target and fires, with three panels showing the trajectory of the bullet before it hits its mark.
I wonder if this was before that one Korn video.

Due to the difficulty of the shot, Major Crimes gets brought on – and Bullock brings in AzBat.

At Hawk & Bunny’s hunting lodge, Hawk learns about a super high-tech gun that’s going to be on display at a gun show in Gotham. He wants it – with a five-finger discount. But to get it, they’ll have to go back to Gotham.

AzBat questions the guy who threw the party, and learns that he was a business partner-turned-blackmail victim of the dead guy. AzBat learns the snipers codenames, and uses that to learn that they’ve returned to Gotham.

AzBat uses the light on his costume to intimidate the man who hired the assassins.
Considering part of the idea behind the costume is the use of theatricality against the people Batman is up against, the light on the costume is a nice touch.

We then cut to the gun show, where Gunhawk and Gunbunny try to steal the gun, only for everyone at the expo to draw on them. Then, on top of that, AzBat shows up.

Everyone in the gun show pulling their guns on GunBunny and GunHawk after they open fire.

Dialog -
Gunhawk: I love this gun
Gunbunny: Maybe it wasn't such a good idea holding up a gun show in broad daylight.
You don’t say, GunBunny

GunBunny gets tagged with a gutshot, and the two make a retreat as the issue ends.
