I’ve reached my first setback, but it’s potentially not as bad as some of the ones from my last project.

I picked up my computer on Sunday, February 8th. Immediately I noticed a bit of an issues – the tower is bigger than I expected. It’s not a deal breaker – but it does mean I need to find a different place to set it up. That said, my backup location will work nicely, but I’ll need to do some cleaning to make the space into a functional workspace – which I started on Sunday after I got back with the computer but before the game started.

In the process, I found some old computer parts that, by the time this post goes up I’ll have taken to FreeGeek. I also found the first computer I built, back when I was in College, around the time I first met David. So, I took some pictures of the computer before it went away.

As far as the computer itself goes, the system board has enough SATA ports for 6 drives and the 3.5” drive bay has spaces for 4 drives. However, the cable management, ironically, is good enough that I can’t tell how many SATA power plugs are available, so I don’t know if I’ll need to replace the power supply.

Additionally, the computer didn’t come with an SSD. There was a different computer available for sale which did, but this was $20 cheaper, and I was thinking about price. Ironically, I think this is probably going to end up costing me a little bit more, though I’m not going to need a particular large SSD – though it’ll be a 2.5D SSD since the System Board doesn’t have spots for a M.2 Drive.
