As mentioned in my last Actual Play post, we have two chapters remaining in Shadows of the Dragon Queen, and one of those is going to go fairly quickly. This means it’s time to start thinking about what the next game will be and taking it over with my group. Well, we have decided on our next campaign.
Our next campaign will be a Shadowrun campaign, run using Kevin Crawford’s Cities Without Number. Cities Without Number is an OSR game that uses some mechanics based on elements of the D&D rules. This will make it easier for some of my players to transition to – my group has previously played a Star Trek Adventures game with a different player GMing, and some of the players ran into a bit of a hiccup with Modipheus’ 2d20 system.
The plan is to start the campaign in 2050 and move the timeline forward over time, running a mix of pre-written adventures and a few I’ll be writing based on how the outcomes of some of these pre-written modules go, kinda how FASA intended.
After running a few adventures, I’ll do a video review of the system itself, and I’ll also discuss how I adapt the pre-written adventures between the systems in their relevant reviews.
