For a bit I’ve been recording gameplay footage on the Genki Shadowcast Pro 2, so I figure it’s appropriate for me to give my thoughts on the hardware, along with some sample footage of what it produces at a couple different resolutions.
One other Medical Note – Sleep Apnea
One other quick medical note – that I’m not just posting here because I need to fill space, but because this is a sincere reminder. I recently got tested for Sleep Apnea, and it was determined that I do, in fact, have Sleep Apnea and will be getting a CPAP machine in the not-too-distant future. Again, I’m probably going to go more-in-depth with this once I actually get the CPAP machine. However, suffice it to say that over the past few years I have had some problems sleeping, and family members have reported that I snore – along with my observing some of my own snoring while napping.
This, combined with paying attention to my sleep data on my FitBit and with it how rested I am or am not lead me to come to the conclusion that I should take on a sleep study and get tested. I’m glad I did that – pro wrestlers from promotions like ECW have died from Sleep Apnea (Johnny Grunge), and Ryan Davis (who had the pleasure to meet at San Diego Comic Con the one year I went) had to deal with it it as well – and my Mom also experiences it – so I felt it was worth getting tested. So, this is my prompt to you, my readers and viewers, if you have problems sleeping, if you have issues with snoring or other respiratory issues, if any sleep-tracker you use shows that say, you’re losing over an hour of sleep a night, consider getting tested for Sleep Apnia – it could improve your sleep and save your life.
Quick Site News Note: Upcoming Medical Procedure
As a quick Site news note – I will be undergoing surgery for that lump on the side of my face that you probably have noticed getting gradually larger over the past few months in the middle of March (specifically on the 14th and 15th). Naturally, this will cause some disruption to my stream schedule and workflow. I will try to get enough of a buffer together that this shouldn’t cause too much of a problem, but I will likely not be streaming that weekend.
I’m probably going to do something of a video about this after the procedure to talk about the experience, at least a little. However, if there’s a disruption in my schedule around that time – that’s why.
The star of Michael Jordan is waning, and the start of Kobe Bryant is rising above the horizon.

Notes on Watching Anime With My Parents
One of the things you normally don’t think about when talking about watching anime, is watching anime with your parents. It often comes up as something to be avoided – as opposed to something to be embraced, particularly with the amount of sex that comes up in Anime. However, once you get older, it gets a bit easier to talk about watching anime with your parents – and it helps if your parents are long-time fans of Speculative Fiction. So, with that in mind, I figure I’d give an update on how it’s gone, and give some notes on some of the shows we’ve watched.

Since I did my last Anime Holy Grails video, pretty much most of the works on that list have been licensed in some form or another. So, it’s time to revisit the list.

Where I Play Halo Infinite: Part 35 – Repair Citadel III
We takedown the Repair Citadel, and rejoin the mission to take down the Banished anti-air batteries in progress.
Some technical difficulties on my end meant that I had to do another vlog style video, so it’s time to stay semi-topical and talk about the recent 2023 Hugo Award backlash.

NextGen #40 (April 1998)
It’s April of 1998, but NextGen isn’t doing the April Fools Day nonsense. Instead, they have a preview for another big game from Hideo Kojima (appropriate considering Kojima just announced a new game as of this writing).

Video Game Review: Marvel’s Midnight Suns
When I put out my list of New Year’s Resolutions for games (in addition to Anime), I expected some of these to take a while, even the ones that were joined in progress. What I did not anticipate was getting iced in for a week during Awesome Games Done Quick, so I decided to spend some of that time (since I wasn’t working on work), playing a turn-based game on the side, so I could split my attention – and over a week I ended up plowing through what I had left of Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Now, that was about 8 hours a day for 7 days, or about 56 hours, and I was at Act 2, so I still had a ways to go. However, this does give me some high hopes for meeting my Resolutions for the year.

Book Review: Shining Girls
January’s book pick for the Sword & Laser Book Club, Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes, is almost something that would have worked better as an October book pick. It’s a story that features a serial killer as an antagonist who can move independently of the rest of us in the time stream – only this one can go back and forth, as opposed to only moving forward, never aging, like the killer in NOS4A2. It’s an interesting story though, though I don’t quite know if it’s my cup of tea (though not for reasons I think the author intended).

So, the Let’s Play is going to take a very short break due to some technical difficulties. My tale of woe lies below the cut.
