A bunch of dumbasses sold their shares of Unity, Nintendo, CD Projekt, and other video game companies because Google made a really dumb LLM project that makes a space you can walk around in – and it started living rent-free in my brain. I get into why, if you sold, you proved you don’t understand the market, and are probably bad at being a human being.

In Memoriam: Giant Bomb & Polygon

At the start of May 2025, much of Polygon’s core staff was laid off, and most of Giant Bomb’s staff was either fired or resigned. I give my thoughts on both sites, what this means for games journalism and criticism, and why this is an overall loss for gaming as a whole.

The election is coming up in the United States – and in many states there is an option for early voting. In Oregon we do Vote By Mail (and also with ballot drop boxes), so have voted in the comfort of my home with a hot cup of coffee. This does mean we don’t get neat “I voted” stickers – but that’s okay. Instead, this weekend I’m going to borrow a custom from Australia, and have a homemade Democracy Sausage (though probably in an actual roll instead of a slice of bread – blasphemy, I know). So, this is my encouragement to you, if you are registered to vote, to go vote. And then have a yummy sausage, and maybe post a picture in the comments.

Alternative Dungeon Fantasy Games

Well, once again, Wizards of the Coast has stuck their head in it. This time, they sicced the Pinkertons on a YouTuber who had been mistakenly shipped the wrong Magic: The Gathering material – specifically a box of an epilogue expansion to March of the Machine that was due to come out later in May. Rather than just doing the more… practical thing, like leaving a voicemail or sending a certified letter, instead the Pinkertons came out, and threatened the YouTuber with felony criminal charges, in addition to having all their magic cards seized by the police.
